DRESS RESPONSIBLY BOOK

  • The Dress Responsibly Look Book is the official style guide of Fashion Fights Poverty. Lovingly hand-bound by a team of volunteers, each book is one-of-a-kind and made from 100% recycled paper. Variations will occur and are intended. Believing that at the center of FFP beats the stylish and socially-responsible consumer, the FFP team extends this modest but sincere attempt to provide an eye-catching resource for those interested in supporting community development through ethical fashion.

Within the book's pages are a global swatch of clothes, accessories and home décor from designers who promote responsible principles such as environmental sustainability, equitable employment and fair trade; and non-profit, non-governmental organizations which use fashion and design to promote self-empowered micro-entrepreneurial projects as vehicles for poverty eradication. The resulting accoutrement of these endeavors, as you will see throughout the book, range from sexy and chic to classic and cosmopolitan.

For this project, SIN recruited photography teams in Washington, DC, New York, Los Angeles and Bogota, Colombia, Nashville, Puerto Rico and Chicago. In DC (2006) and Puerto Rico (2007), SIN produced all photoshoots, directing the styling, hair, makeup and working with designers to achieve effective looks and design. SIN also designed the book packaging, layout and binding process, keeping mind a low production budget and needing to adhere to a set policy of using organic, farily traded materials.
